Memorial Day is a little different this year. Barbecues, camping trips, family visits, and other activities that center around gathering together in your local communities will look very different. While we certainly miss eating dinner at one of our local restaurants or seeing extended relatives, but we are staying optimistic and seeing what fun activities we can do either in the comfort of our own homes or outside while abiding by COVID-19 Guidelines:
Indoor Ideas:
- Do you have a room that you’ve been wanting to repaint? This is a fun, productive activity that can even get the kids involved with a bit of direction
- Do the kids want to go camping but the local parks are closed? Pillow Forts in the living room are a great temporary solution. Grab your favorite sheets and comfy pillows and create your own fortress with old cardboard boxes or chairs.
- Disney Plus is offering 7 Day Free Trials. This is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a movie marathon with Star Wars, Marvel, or other Disney classics
Outdoor Ideas
- Do a little research ahead of time to see which of your local parks or public spaces are open and pack a picnic (and a few back up masks if necessary)
- Take a walk or a bike ride with the family around the neighborhood
- Grilling is still a classic Memorial Day activity. Try out a new recipe on the grill and get the whole family involved in the process. Shiskabob can be a fun and simple prep
Overall, we wish you a healthy Memorial Day weekend and wish to say thank you for your service. Take a moment this weekend to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country.
